About
One of our most popular parks,
Indian Mound Reserve is also one of the most diverse areas managed
by the Greene County Park District.
A spectacular natural resource
is created with a blend of the gorge, meadow, woods, river and marsh,
creating an amazing view for quiet passersby.
Much Native American history can be learned here with the Pollock Works,
a Hopewell structure, and the Williamson Mound, an Adena structure, both
of which are hundreds of years old.
An 1800's cabin also sits on the park grounds. Originally, the log cabin was constructed in Selma, Ohio as part of a young ladies wedding dowry. It also played a role in the Underground Railroad and was probably an important part of the lives of slaves passing through Cedarville. The cabin is now in need of many renovations. Help us get awarded a grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project to save this log cabin. Log on to www.refresheverything.com and vote for the "Save the Cabin" project daily.
The park also offers an extraordinary wildflower display in early May
featuring about 75 species, some of which are rare, including snow trillium. It
also boasts one of the largest groves of white arborvitae, a tree on
Ohio's protected species list.

About
This park was donated in part by Carl and Myrna Barnett in
1976 with assistance from Sugarcreek Township Trustees, the
Board of Greene County Commissioners and the Federal Land
and Water Conservation Fund, administered by the Ohio Dept.
of Natural Resources.
Steadily through the years,
the Parks Department has made improvements to the park including the
handicap accessible restrooms, a new fishing pier, more parking spaces,
aerators for the large pond and a fish stocking program.
A walk
along the back trail leads hikers into Sugarcreek Reserve's secluded
trails and an abundance of vegetation and wildlife.
The lakes are
stocked once per month with trout October through February and catfish
March through September. All fish are disease free and safe for
consumption.
A State of Ohio Fishing License is not required, but
a Greene County fishing permit must be purchased from an attendant at
the park, a Greene County Park Ranger or at the Greene County Parks office
in Xenia.
Revenue from the fishing permit program is used for future
fish stocking programs, as well as other improvements and expansions
at the park.
