Financial Assistance Program

Donate To or Apply For

Family Leisure Assistance Trust (FLAT) Fund Scholarship Program

What is the FLAT Fund?

The Family Leisure Assistance Trust Fund was established in 1981 through donations to allow youth only to participate in leisure activities including sports camps, nature and recreation programs, who are financially unable to do so otherwise.

A growing number of children are from families whose budgets are stretched so thin that there just isn't enough room for the rising cost of camp and leisure activities.

We pride ourselves on keeping our costs minimal, however, there are still families who simply cannot afford it.  We rely on the generous hearts of the public and business communities in Greene County to help support the FLAT Fund.

We are in constant need of donations to build up the fund so we can continue to provide this service to children throughout Greene County who would not be able to afford our programs otherwise.

What are the donations used for?

Monies donated to the FLAT Fund are used to enroll youth, who would not be able to afford it otherwise, in our many recreational and educational camps, lessons, activities and programs.

These activities are the ideal opportunity to encourage the growth of self-esteem, interpersonal skills, confidence and teamwork, as well as good physical health and coordination.

How can I donate?

Donations of all levels are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible.  For example, a donation of $80.00 would enable a child to participate in our Watercraft Education Camp for a week.

All checks should be made payable to:

  • One child per family is eligible for 1 scholarship annually, which covers the cost of one activity, camp or program of your choice.
  • You must fill out an application and provide total annual income verification.

For self-supporting programs, the program must meet its minimum registration levels, which are defined internally for every program, before scholarship availability is an option.
