History of GCP&T

Greene County Parks & Trails is comprised of the Greene County Park District and Greene County Parks under the guidance of the Greene County Board of County Commissioners. The Greene County Park District was created in 1963 with the Greene County Parks (and Recreation) Department created in 1974.  In 2011, the two entities remain but became known as Greene County Parks & Trails and continue to work together to manage 2,600 acres of parkland, 62 miles of paved trails, 36 miles of river trail and 12 miles of hiking trails. The partnership saves funds through the elimination of duplicating both staff and equipment.
